Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA)
R. Michael Menzies is chairman of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), the only national trade association that exclusively represents community banks.
President and CEO of Easton Bank and Trust Company, in Easton, Md., Menzies is chairman of the ICBA Congressional Affairs Committee and vice chairman of the ICBA Strategic Planning Committee. He presides at ICBA’s Executive Committee and board of directors meetings.
Menzies has long been active in ICBA having served as chairman-elect, chairman of several committees including the ICBA Membership/Marketing, Policy Development, Strategic Planning, Bank Education, Technology and Payments, and Tax. Menzies has also chaired ICBA Mortgage Corporation.
Prior to his association with Easton Bank and Trust Company, Menzies served the First Bank of Frederick, Md., first as president and CEO and then as chairman. He was an executive vice president at Talbot Bank of Easton. He also held various positions with Maryland National Bank, including senior credit officer, regional vice president, assistant vice president for commercial banking and senior auditor.
Menzies has testified on Capitol Hill before the Senate Finance, Judiciary and Small Business committees and the Senate Subcommittee on FDIC Insurance. He has also testified before the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
Menzies has a long history of involvement in his community and is chairman of the Talbot Hospice Foundation and a member of the Rotary Club of Easton, the American Institute of CPAs, the Maryland Institute of CPAs, and the Mid Shore Community Foundation Audit Committee.
He has an economics degree from Randolph Macon College, earned his CPA certificate after studies at Loyola College in Baltimore, attended the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Banking for advanced banking studies, and is an active instrument rated private pilot.
