Richard K. Crone is founder of Crone Consulting, LLC providing payment processing insight to banks, billers, merchants, processors and investors. Prior to launching his own firm he held senior management positions at Dove Consulting; Edgar, Dunn & Company; and KPMG Consulting (now BearingPoint).

Richard drew upon his nearly 27 years of payment and remittance processing experience to envision and launch CyberCash’s PayNow™ Electronic Check Service in 1996, one of the first means of transferring funds electronically over the Internet using bank checking accounts.

Prior to joining CyberCash, Mr. Crone led Home Savings of America as Senior Vice President & Director of Electronic Banking in their successful release of online banking with Microsoft Money and Intuit’s Quicken.

Mr. Crone spent eight years with KPMG Consulting as a Senior Manager and Founder of the Firm’s Center for Electronic Banking; and led part of their business processing reengineering and outsourcing practices.

He played an instrumental role in the formation of business plans for both private and public funding of several Internet-based new ventures, including the first Internet bank, and served on the board of directors and audit committee for edocs, Inc. from its inception until the company was sold to Siebel.

Mr. Crone has published over 100 articles, most recently in Billing World Magazine, Bank Technology News, American Banker, Journal of Retail Banking Services and the TMA Journal.

He has authored chapters in two books on interactive billing; one for billers titled "Corporate Treasury Management Manual" (A.S. Pratt and Sons) and one for bankers titled "Internet Management" (Auerbach/CRC Press).

Mr. Crone began his career by spending nine years in the financial systems division of Unisys as a sales account executive and marketing manager.

Mr. Crone holds a Master of Business Administration degree, beta gamma sigma, and a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from the University of Southern California.
