Astrid C. Glynn

Astrid C. Glynn was confirmed as Commissioner of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) in May 2007. As Commissioner, she has emphasized the need for NYSDOT to be a diverse and multimodal agency capable of addressing a wide range of transportation needs.
Prior to joining NYSDOT, Ms. Glynn was Deputy Chief in the Massachusetts Office for Commonwealth Development, a cabinet level office with oversight of transportation, environment and housing. For over a decade, she served in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation in a number of capacities, including Deputy Secretary for Planning and Director of Intermodal Transportation. Before entering the public sector she practiced law in Philadelphia and Boston. Ms. Glynn earned her B.A. from Bennington College and her J.D. from Albany Law School.
At the national level, Ms. Glynn is the Chair of the Intercity Passenger Rail Leadership Group of the American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO). She is also a member of the AASHTO Special Committee on Intermodal Transportation and Economic Expansion.
