David Sundstrom was first elected as the Auditor-Controller for Orange County in June 1998 and was reelected in March 2002 and May 2006. His third four-year term of office started on January 1, 2007. Prior to his election, David served in a variety of positions, including Director of Internal Audit for the County of Orange, University Auditor for the California State University Board of Trustees and campus audit manager for the University of California at Davis.

David is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Information Systems Auditor and a Certified Internal Auditor and obtained an MBA from the University of California at Davis.
