Katie Strong joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as a director in the Congressional and Public Affairs Department in October 2004. In this capacity, she represents the Chamber’s health care agenda before Congress and the White House on a range of issues: Health Savings Accounts, Health Information Technology, Small Business Health Plans, Medicare, and other health care reform proposals.
Strong represents the Chamber on numerous coalitions including the HSA Working Group (co-chair, Lobbying Committee); the Coalition for Small Business Health Plans (co-chair, House Lobbying Committee); and the Steering Committee for the Coalition on Catastrophic and Chronic Health Care Costs (HC5).
Strong is a regular presenter to state and local chambers during Washington, D.C., fly-ins and is a frequently requested speaker and panelist for health care events, both in D.C. and around the country.
Before joining the Chamber, Strong served as director of Legislative Affairs for the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), where she lobbied the House and Senate for all ABC priority issues focusing on health care and tax. Prior to ABC, she was executive assistant to former Rep. Bill Paxon (R-NY) at the law firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP.
Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, Strong attended the University of Alabama, during which time she interned for Sen. Jeff Sessions and the Republican National Committee during the 1996 Republican Convention.
