Barbara A. Rehm is assistant managing editor of American Banker. In this role, she oversees the national, community banking, and Washington/regulatory coverage for the paper and its online service at AmericanBanker.com. She is also the editor of American Banker’s annual Best in Banking special report, which highlights the Banker of the Year Award honorees.
Ms. Rehm joined American Banker in 1987 as a reporter covering the Federal Reserve Board. She was promoted to Washington bureau chief in 1995 and senior editor in 1998. She has held her current role since 2003. Ms. Rehm holds a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and previously worked for The Oil Daily and The Energy Report. She won the Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards competition for Best News Coverage in 2001, for a series of articles on the debate over deposit insurance reform.
Ms. Rehm, who is known as Barb, likes to run and bike and has finished one marathon and one century. Born in St. Louis, she lives in McLean, Va.
