Todd Davenport has reported on banking companies for the past decade, and has spent the past 16 years covering public companies. He is currently Associate Editor of American Banker, where he writes about financial services – including regulatory and legislative policy, financial and market performance, and corporate strategy and operations. He is the primary reporter for the paper’s weekly market column on underlying trends influencing the industry. Recent topics include earnings performance, regulation, accounting, corporate finance and governance, derivatives, hedge funds, and M&A. He was the lead reporter on American Banker’s Morning Scan, a widely read daily email that summarizes and explains financial services news stories in the major U.S. newspapers.
Prior to joining American Banker in 2002, Mr. Davenport worked for a decade at SNL Financial LC of Charlottesville, Va., starting as a researcher of corporate securities filings and leaving as editor in chief. He oversaw the company’s proprietary news efforts and led the launch of the company’s online publishing operations.
He graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in History.
