Mr. Kerr serves as in-house counsel with Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada in Toronto.

Called to the Ontario Bar in 1990, Mr. Kerr’s practice encompasses individual and group insurance and savings product development, product distribution and regulatory compliance matters.  He is also corporate secretary for Sun Life Financial Trust Inc.

Mr. Kerr is a frequent writer and speaker on industry matters such as segregated fund regulation, pension plan governance and the Guidelines for Capital Accumulation Plans.   He is a chair of the Cdn. Life & Health Insurance Assoc. Committee on Group Retirement Services, a  member of the industry Taskforce on Common Pension Standards, a member of the Association of Canadian Pension Management  Advocacy and Government Relations Committee and is involved in a variety of other industry initiatives and committees.
