University and graduated in 1989 with an AS degree in Hotel Restaurant Management and a BS degree in Hospitality Management.

Immediately after graduation, he moved to Los Angeles and worked for Westin Hotels and Suites at the 1500 room Bonaventure Hotel. He entered this location as the Food and Beverage Manager in Training and over the next seven years was promoted eleven times, holding various positions including Rooms Division Manager, Director of Restaurants, Sales and Event Management.

Donald’s career with The Ritz-Carlton began in 1995 as the Associate Director of Catering and Convention Services for our 244 room resort in Rancho Mirage, California. He then transitioned out of the desert to The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island in Florida as Director of Event Management. In 2000, Donald assumed the same position but in Boston overseeing the Event Management team for The Ritz-Carlton, Boston and The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common.

March 2003 was the beginning of Mr. Stamets return to Florida as Director of Meetings and Special Events for The Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes in Orlando. This hotel was the first time our parent company (Marriott) combined the operations of their luxury brand (J.W. Marriott) with a Ritz-Carlton property. Donald’s team was responsible for the operation of 72,000 square feet of meeting space. Since the opening of the property, Donald was promoted twice to Executive Assistant Manager – Rooms Division and Hotel Manager.

In July 2008, Donald was repositioned as The Hotel Manager for our property on South Beach. Mr. Stamets’ responsibilities include overseeing the entire operation of this $78 million resort with a strong focus on customer and employee engagement.
