David Evans Founder Market Platform Dynamics David Evans is the Founder of Market Platform Dynamics and a leading global authority on complex business strategy and business models. With over 25 years of experience working with foremost organizations in the payments, software, telecommunications, and digital media businesses, David consults for companies operating in dynamic industries on how to engineer business models, products and pricing strategies for maximum profitability. He is an advisor and board member for companies in the payments and technology space and is frequently called on to counsel leadership teams of premier global companies. David, along with his long-time collaborator, Dick Schmalensee, are among the early pioneers in the research of multi-sided platforms; the economic science that informs the design of business models, incentive structures, and product design for platform-based businesses. This body of work is the underpinning of their latest book, Catalyst Code: The Secrets Behind the World’s Most Dynamic Companies (Harvard Business School Press, May 2007) and the subject of more than 80 published academic papers and articles. David has co-authored several books including Paying with Plastic: The Digital Revolution in Buying and Borrowing (MIT Press, 2005) which has been called the "definitive source on the payment card industry" and Invisible Engines: How Software Platforms Drive Innovation and Transform Industries (MIT Press, 2006) which was recently awarded the American Publishing Association’s award for Best Business Book. A frequent keynote speaker, he is often asked to set the framework for strategic and thought-provoking industry discussions. David is a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School and Executive Director of the Jevons Institute for Competition Law and Economics at the University College London, where he is also a Visiting Professor.
