Michelle Scales is the Director of Diverse Growth Segments, a division that identifies and implements business and marketing initiatives to address the financial needs of diverse and emerging customer groups nationwide, including African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Latinos and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) community.  Her extensive experience in consumer and commercial banking, marketing, and sales leadership enables Wells Fargo to tailor its service delivery to the diverse needs of these segments and help them succeed financially.

An 18-year veteran of the financial services industry, Scales has extensive experience in retail, consumer and commercial banking, marketing, operations management, credit risk management, and sales leadership.

Scales joined Wells Fargo’s consumer credit group in 2000 where she managed the personal credit management, unsecured and auto lending business originated through the retail bank, internet and phone channels.  Previously, she was a senior credit officer and business manager at Citibank. She started her career in banking at Bank of America where she was a commercial banking lending officer in their San Francisco office.

A native of Pakistan, she lived in the Middle East and England before coming to the United States 20 years ago. She earned a bachelor’s of science degree in banking and international finance from The City University Business School in London and an MBA in finance from California State University in Northridge.
