Dear Colleague,

2009 promises to be a transformative time in the financial services arena. A new President, changes in financial regulation, and a radically shifting risk appetite are shaking up the landscape as we know it. At the epicenter of these changes is the underbanked market, which continues to be one of the most promising markets today.

Companies of all types, sizes and locations have made significant inroads in understanding and serving underbanked consumers. Despite the broader economic storm, these customers continue to be attractive short-term and long-term prospects – for those who take the time to understand their needs and shape their strategy accordingly. Although there is understandable caution across the industry, there is a way forward that balances risk, cost and effort and delivers valuable, loyal, long-term customers. This year’s Underbanked Financial Services Forum is designed

to guide you along your way.

I am proud that the Underbanked Financial Services Forum continues to be the best single place to learn the latest information from the industry’s best and most innovative practitioners, while making the connections you need to build a successful program. As always, we will offer something for everybody because there is both room for a wide variety of players, and a need for different models and partnerships to achieve progress. Financial institutions and credit unions, technology and service companies, retailers and other providers, non-profit organizations, and government agencies will all find useful information and potential relationships, much of it exclusive, and all of it presented in the Forum’s unique format.

The topics we will explore in these exciting times are:

  • The global perspective
  • Innovation during challenging times
  • Understanding the attitudes, needs, and behaviors of the underbanked

This year’s Forum will feature concurrent tracks focused on Credit, Payments, and Deposits. Every member of your organization will be able to bring back strategies, ideas and connections to start your program with a bang or improve your current operation. By targeting and serving the underbanked during these challenging times, your organization and this valuable consumer base will not only survive, but thrive.

I invite you to join me on June 1-3 at the Westin Galleria in Dallas, TX for 2009’s premier event on underbanked strategy. Make your reservations today.

Regards,

Jennifer Tescher, Director, Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI)
