As Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer, for Marshall & Ilsley Corporation (M&I), Brent Kelly provides strategic leadership and marketing expertise to drive profitable growth for the Corporation. M&I is a $60 billion diversified financial services company (Retail, Business and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management services) serving over one million clients in 36 states, with physical offices in ten states and headquartered in Milwaukee, WI.
In addition to traditional marketing functions, such as brand management, marketing communications, segment management and database marketing, Brent also has responsibility for retail deposit product management and managing the online and mobile channel and product, and overall client experience.
The Marketing team builds acquisition, retention, and cross-sell strategies and programs that reinforce M&I’s brand positioning and move clients and prospects to act. M&I’s in‑house advertising agency has received external recognition for their work, including seven 2009 Communicator Awards. These awards ranged from billboards to magazines to integrated TV, radio, print, and online campaigns, including the Award of Excellence for Marketing Effectiveness. The group was also recognized with a 2009 Telly Award for the M&I Bank Brand Introduction TV spot in the Indiana market.
In addition, mibank.com has been identified as the third best financial services website for prospects (by Javelin) and has consistently been in the top 15 overall best financial services websites (as rated by Keynote).
Brent joined M&I in 2006, after serving in a variety of senior marketing and general management roles for some of the best-known brands in the U.S., such as Pepsi, Jell-O, Cool Whip, NationsBank (now Bank of America), and Bank One (now Chase). Prior to joining M&I, he served as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at 1800Flowers.com, leading the growth of the Cheryl&Co. brand of fresh baked cookies, brownies and gifts. He helped double this business and grow profits exponentially by leveraging his knowledge of direct marketing and customer segmentation.
Brent grew up on Long Island, but he and his wife, Carol, and four children now live in Mequon, Wisconsin. Brent is an avid sports fan and can often be seen around town coaching or refereeing a variety of youth activities. Brent has a bachelor’s degree with a double major in mathematics and economics from the College of William and Mary and an MBA with a concentration in marketing from New York University.
