Mark Long oversees Dow Jones Newswires’ coverage of natural gas, electricity, and emerging greenhouse-gas emissions markets.
He joined Newswires in 2001 as a reporter covering commodities news from London, just as carbon markets were starting to be developed. He later moved on to cover major European oil and gas companies, which were then beginning to more publicly acknowledge their role in addressing climate change.
After moving onto editing and returning to the U.S. at the end of 2005, Long oversaw portions of Dow Jones’ equities coverage for a couple of years, before moving back to the energy and environment beat earlier this year. A major focus of coverage currently is the federal climate-change legislation being debated in Washington, which will not only create a major new market, but fundamentally alter the energy business.
Mark is a native of Louisville, Ky, and graduated from Bellarmine College in 1999.
