A recognized leader in sustainability, Lisa Michelle Galley is the Founder and Managing Principal of Galley Eco Capital, LLC, a green real estate financial services consultancy. Lisa is one of the few leaders in the US with expertise in financing programs for green real estate projects. Her experience includes developing all components of a green real estate investment strategy.

Lisa's unique knowledge of the opportunities in green real estate has made her a sought after consultant, speaker, and thought leader on green financing and urban sustainability. She has been an invited speaker at the Urban Land Institute, US Green Building Council, and Triple Bottom Line Investing Conference. She is the Treasurer of the 2008 Board of Directors for the Northern California Chapter of the US Green Building Council. She is a regular radio show guest, speaking about creating sustainable cities and successful green real estate investment. And her blog, Our Green Journey, is syndicated to the real estate community online.

Her sustainability work has included developing key components of an executable green real estate investment strategy:

  • Defining “green” real estate investment parameters, including due diligence process, mortgage risk thresholds and loan pricing/proceeds parameters.
  • Establishing a market of best in class green real estate service providers and specialists to provide third party services.
  • Direct origination, underwriting and closing on project-based loans for LEED-certified commercial real estate developments for internationally prominent investors.
  • Structured warehouse lines and private placement securitization package for a pilot green residential mortgage conduit.
  • Structured several LEED-certified, zero-energy mixed-use real estate transactions.
  • Structured LEED-certified, green hotel transaction.
  • Structured and arranged solar fund capitalization.

Prior to founding Galley Eco Capital, Lisa was a banking executive with HSH Nordbank, where she concluded nearly $3.5 billion in transactions in several European countries and North America. She helped HSH open real estate offices in New York and San Francisco. At Imperial Bank of California, she successfully negotiated workouts on underperforming credits which created a significant reduction in potential losses. Prior to her lending career, Lisa worked with real estate investors in asset management and property management positions.
