Michael H. Gottschlich is a partner in Barnes & Thornburg LLP’s Indianapolis, Indiana office, where he is a member of the Litigation Department. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, lender disputes, mortgage fraud, securities fraud, and professional liability.

Mr. Gottschlich has served as national counsel for several companies involving complex business litigation in both federal and state courts throughout the country. His work focuses on defending lending institutions, including the representation of individual corporate directors and officers in malfeasance, antitrust, and securities litigation. He also assists lending and other financial institutions in mortgage fraud recovery. Mr. Gottschlich represents every type of entity up and down the mortgage lending chain, from initial funding to warehouse lenders to investors in the secondary market. He has assisted clients in seeking and receiving significant recoveries against brokers, appraisers, borrowers, title companies and others involved in the loan transaction.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg LLP, Mr. Gottschlich was a partner in a Los Angeles law firm. While in California, he tried a number of complex cases involving commercial or securities fraud, as well as contract disputes and professional malpractice.

Mr. Gottschlich is admitted to practice in the states of Indiana, California, and Illinois. He is also admitted in the 7th, 9th and 11th Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the Southern District of California. He is a member of the Indianapolis and Los Angeles Bar Associations, as well as the American Bar Association, where he is an associate in the antitrust section.

Mr. Gottschlich received his undergraduate degree in economics from Indiana University–Bloomington in 1987. He received his J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law, where he was a member of the National Moot Court team.
