When consumers' lack of credit makes them "thin file" prospects, there is little on which to base a decision. To accurately assess a thin file individual, financial institutions must look not just at the person's credit risk, but at his or her identity risk. Identity risk needs to be an important consideration in granting credit, especially when there is little credit history to examine. This session will help credit grantors gain insight into what it means to have an integrated view of the potential risk of an individual, incorporating identity information, traditional credit data, and alternative credit data.
