Bernard M. Kiely

Bernard Kiely is a NAPFA Registered Advisor. He is a principal of Kiely Capital Management, Inc., a Registered Investment Advisor. He is also owner of Bernard M. Kiely, CPA, an accounting firm where he specializes in individual taxation.
Bernard has been providing Fee-Only financial planning, investment advisory and income tax services for individuals for 24 years. He was recognized by WORTH Magazine as one of “The Best Financial Advisors” in the nation four times in a row. His practice was profiled in the December 2000 issue of Investment Advisor Magazine. Bernard’s practice was profiled in the February issue of the NAPFA Advisor. Accounting Today Magazine has twice listed him as one of the CPAs to know in financial planning. Bernard was the feature story in the April 2005 issue of CPA Wealth Provider Magazine.
He a member of the American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA) and the New Jersey Society of CPA’s (NJSCPA) where he is a former member of the Board of Trustees and a former Chairman of the Personal Financial Planning Committee. Bernard is co-founder of the New Jersey Society of CPAs Help Center for World Trade Center victims. The Help Center has approximately 60 volunteer CPAs that helped 100 families. Bernard is personally providing free tax preparation and financial planning services for five widows.
In February 2002 Bernard was Conference Co-chairman for a Disaster Recovery Conference held in New York City. This conference was a joint presentation of the New Jersey Society of CPAs and the New York Society of CPAs. During this two day conference Bernard was on two panels and was a speaker. His topic was investment alternatives for life insurance proceeds and safe withdrawal rates.
Bernard belongs to the Financial Planning Association (FPA). The FPA of NJ recently awarded Bernard with its First Annual Membership Award. He is also a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the only professional organization for fee-only financial planners. He is a former board member of the North-East/Mid Atlantic Region and a member of the Education Committee for NAPFA National. Bernard was awarded the First Annual NAPFA Membership Award acknowledging his work in bringing CPAs into NAPFA. Bernard currently serves on NAPFA’s National Board of Directors and he also serves on NAPFA’s Comprehensive Financial Plan Peer Review Committee.
Bernard was an Accounting Instructor at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey for 10½ years. The Rutgers – Newark Accounting Society, named him Accounting Teacher of the year in 1987. Bernard has also taught CPA review courses for 14 years.
His is a frequent speaker at financial planning conferences. He has spoken at NAPFA Regional and National conferences, the AICPA Financial Planning Technical Conference, The AICPA Annual Financial Planning Technical Conference and their Annual Investment Planning Conference, The New Jersey Society of CPA’s, The Pennsylvania Institute of CPA’s.
Bernard is one of the earlier users of Monte Carlo simulations. He is frequently quoted in newspaper and magazine articles on the subject. He has demonstrated it's benefits and shown how he uses it at AICPA, NJSCPA and NAPFA conferences.
Bernard has been quoted by or written articles for: Money Magazine, Investment Advisor Magazine, the New Jersey law Journal, Financial Planning Magazine, the Newark Star Ledger, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Accounting Today, the Morris County Daily Record, the Bergen Record. Worth Magazine and HEMISPHERES, United Airlines In Flight Magazine. He was interviewed on TV station NJ-News 12, where he discussed credit card debt and holiday shopping. In September 2006 Bernard was a guest on Maria Bartiromo’s TV show “Wall Street Journal Report”.
