As Executive Vice President of Capital One’s Commercial Banking business, Mr. Slocum is responsible for leading multiple broad lines of business, including asset-based lending, leasing, commercial real estate, middle market banking, private banking, treasury services and merchant services. In this role, Mr. Slocum reports directly to Lynn Pike, the President of Capital One Bank, one of Capital One Financial Corporation’s three principal subsidiaries.
Capital One’s Commercial Banking Division represents customers that have more than $25 billion in outstanding loans and more than $18 billion in deposit balances, generating over $1 billion in annual revenue for the company while employing more than 1,000 people. Slocum is focused on growing this business by leveraging a relationship-based banking model and seamlessly delivering a wide array of products and services through a locally based, well versed and knowledgeable team of commercial bankers.
Before joining Capital One in 2007, Mr. Slocum served in various leadership roles for nearly two decades at Wachovia Bank, where he most recently headed up the company’s Real Estate Financial Services business. In that role, Mr. Slocum was responsible for the unit of Wachovia’s General Bank charged with delivering a broad array of products and services to commercial and residential real estate clients covering the United States. While in this role, revenues to the company from his region grew nearly 15 percent per year. Also under his leadership, Wachovia’s Real Estate Banking business grew into the second largest real estate bank in the U.S. Slocum also served as Wachovia’s Regional CEO responsible for the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut regions.
Mr. Slocum began his banking career in 1980 with Texas Commerce Bank (now a part of JP Morgan Chase), after graduating from Colgate University in 1979 with a degree in Economics.
