Marie M. Chung, REO Director of REO Modern Realty Corp., is a pioneer in the ever-modernizing Real Estate Industry. She is a licensed real estate broker with extensive knowledge in foreclosures, REO dispositions and short sale negotiations. Since joining the Modern Realty team, Marie has been instrumental in expanding the company and establishing its reputation as one of the top Bank-Owned Foreclosure Brokerages in the country.
Marie’s introduction to real estate came at an early age when her parents founded the company in 1982. Even as a young girl, Marie showed an interest in her family’s business. She loved accompanying her parents to listing appointments and open houses.
Marie attended UCLA where she majored in Business Economics. She excelled as a member of numerous Honor societies and graduated Magna cum Laude. While at UCLA, Marie was selected for the prestigious Intern Program in Tax Advisory Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers. There she served on the Transfer Pricing Team. Upon graduation, Marie officially joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Assurance and Business Advisory Services division of the Technology and Consumer Credit Industries. She continued to feed her hunger for education at the USC Ross Program in Real Estate Development.
Marie left PricewaterhouseCoopers to return to the company she loved as a child. She started out as Director of Real Estate Investor Relations for CWC (an investment division of the family business). Her responsibilities included sourcing, analyzing, negotiating and recommending exit strategies for residential properties in foreclosure. She oversaw the investment through disposition or negotiated Property Management contracts for her clients.
Three years later, Marie was promoted to REO Director at REO Modern Realty Corp., her current position. Managing a team of 58 multi-lingual agents, brokers and support staff, Marie continues to rapidly expand this successful Real Estate Brokerage and develop cutting-edge techniques in the field.
An expert on foreclosures and REO’s, Marie sits on numerous committees including REOMAC, LA County Sheriff’s Advisory Council, Asian Real Estate Association of America Board of Directors, USC Lusk Center for Real Estate, and Urban Land Institute. She is a member of NRBA, REO Connection, United Trustee’s Association, National Association of Professional Women, Asian Real Estate Association of America, CCIM, National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, and multiple Associations of Realtors covering the Southern California region. Also, Marie is REOTrans and Five Star BPO Certified.
In addition to the many organizations to which Marie contributes, she regularly speaks at public forums and workshops. Such experiences include REOMAC Conferences and Dinner Meetings, Five Star Conferences, the USC Ross Program, California State University at Fullerton, and Investor Clubs throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Through hard work, dedication and tenacity, Marie has developed extremely strong professional relationships which have propelled her to become a leader in the Real Estate Field.
On a personal level, Marie is an animal lover and believes strongly in animal rights. She is passionate about protecting the silent & forgotten victims of foreclosure – our pets. Marie actively works to raise funds and awareness for No Paws Left Behind, Inc. Through her activity in this organization, Marie strives to help save these animals andcreate a united nationalmovement to changethe laws that categorizepetsas property.
Marie is a pioneer in the Real Estate and Foreclosure Industry with an extremely high-powered vision for expansion of her company and the business of investment in real estate. In her incredibly limited spare time, Marie enjoys reading, practicing yoga, riding her bicycle, cooking, and spending even MORE time alongside the family with whom she works. She attends the Agape International Spiritual Center in Culver City, CA and resides in Los Angeles with her Chihuahua, Harley.
