Daniel H. Jacobs is the chief executive officer for 1st Metropolitan Mortgage, a national mortgage brokerage firm based in Charlotte, N.C. with more than 250 branches. Jacobs is responsible for directing daily operations and developing new business visions and strategies for future growth. With an extensive background in the mortgage industry, Jacobs is multifaceted with experience in originations, operations management and business development.
Jacob’s is responsible for the expansion and growth of 1st Metropolitan’s presence nationwide. He is responsible for continually raising standards for the company and has therefore established an extensive, training program designed to give new branch managers a strong foundation to ensure success. He believes that mortgage companies should provide their production staffs with the latest technology and marketing tools in order to make the entire company successful. In addition, he believes that a company should create an infrastructure that is a balance of quality and quantity and that will attract the best employees.
As the director of acquisitions for Empire, Jacobs has successfully identified, negotiated and led due diligence teams of lawyers, accountants and consultants through five acquisitions during the last three years. Jacobs’ leadership was instrumental in Empire acquiring the assets of 1st Metropolitan in September 2002.
Prior to Jacobs’ current position, he worked as branch, regional sales and national sales manager for Empire. He also worked as vice president of business development where he developed a beta test program that enabled loan officers to work from remote locations, which ultimately led to the acquisition of 1st Metropolitan. Jacobs is a graduate of the residential mortgage lending program with the National Association of Mortgage Brokers Education (NAMB) Foundation. Because of his experience in the mortgage industry, Jacobs has been quoted in Origination News, MBA Newslink, Broker Magazine and Mortgage Originator. He has also written articles for REALTOR magazine.
In addition, Jacobs has been a panelist during sessions at the annual NAMB conference, where he was part of the debate on net branching verses remaining independent. He is an active member of NAMB and North Carolina Association of Mortgage Professionals. Jacobs is a graduate of the University of North Carolina where he received a bachelor of arts degree in political science.
