Dr. Anthony Hughes is Managing Director of Credit Analytics at MEDC. Primarily, his responsibilities involve overseeing the company’s consulting efforts related to consumer credit risk modeling and forecasting. His work in this area has been far ranging, covering the spectrum of products from credit cards to mortgages using data drawn from a number of countries in North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific.

Based in West Chester, PA he was previously the Director of MEDC’s Sydney office (which he established) and editor of the Dismal Scientist’s Asia Pacific coverage. Though he now specializes in credit risk, he retains a deep interest in Asia and a forecasting role for the Japanese economy.

Dr. Hughes is a former academic, holding positions at UNSW, the University of Adelaide and Vanderbilt University; he received his Ph.D. in Econometrics from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. He has published a number of articles in leading statistics and economics journals.
