Helga Houston is Risk and Compliance Management Executive for Global Consumer & Small Business Banking. She has responsibility for credit, market, operational and strategic risk management and compliance for the Consumer & Small Business segments and the Consumer Product businesses, including Credit Card, ATM and Debit Card, e-Commerce, Consumer Real Estate, Dealer Financial Services, Deposits and Insurance.
Houston joined Bank of America in 1986 as a Commercial Real Estate appraiser. Shortly thereafter, she transferred to Commercial Real Estate Lending and over the next 12 years held key roles in Lending, Real Estate Loan Workouts, Other Real Estate Owned, Corporate Real Estate and Real Estate Capital Markets.
In 2001, Houston became a senior portfolio manager in Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB), where she managed credit risk in the Financial Services, Natural Resources, Financial Sponsors, and Japan portfolios. She also led the GCIB Diversity Council and participated in the Corporate Diversity Council.
Most recently she was the Global Wealth and Investment Management (GWIM) Risk Executive responsible for credit, market, operational and strategic risk management. GWIM serves institutional and individual affluent to wealthy clients through Premier Banking and Investments, the Private Bank, Family Wealth Advisors and Columbia Management.
Houston graduated from Westmont College in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in business and economics. She earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California in 1988.
Helga serves on the Bank of America Management Operating Committee and the Risk Management Association Board of Directors.
