Donna Howe

Head of Hedge Fund Risk Management, Fixed Income

UBS

Donna joined UBS just a year ago as the Head of Hedge Fund Risk Management for Fixed Income. Her prior role was at Angelo, Gordon & Co. (a $12 billion AUM multi-strategy hedge fund) as their Chief Risk Officer (CRO). She joined them in 2002, and initiated more formal risk practices in credit, market, and operational risks. Previously she was at ABN-Amro’s Clearing and Execution Services division as their CRO, monitoring hedge fund (and other) clients. So she has seen both sides of the coin. Her experience also includes roles as Head of Market Risk, North America for ABN-Amro, Deputy Head of Market Risk North America for Deutsche Bank, and Head of Market Risk NY for Banque Indosuez. She did strategic analysis and proprietary trading at Chase Manhattan Bank for almost 7 years and was a buy-side portfolio manager with One Federal Asset Management in Boston. She is the author of A Guide to Managing Interest Rate Risk, published back in 1990. Being a person of narrow interests, her hobbies are Credit Risk Modeling and Operational Risk Management. She has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan, and did lots of course work at NYU but never quite completed the process for her M.A. or PhD.
